Description
Foel-fras in the Welsh Carneddau rises beyond a small blue pool, with green rocky slopes, a pale winding path and shallow hollows beneath a light summer sky.
Foel-fras stands in northern Eryri, within the Carneddau mountains east of Bethesda. Rising above 900 metres, it belongs to the higher ground of this broad upland range. Its position places it among the northern Welsh summits overlooking the coastal lowlands.
An oval pool sits below the rounded hill, its blue surface edged by a narrow pale margin. A light path winds down through the green foreground, passing rocks and shallow folds in the grass. The upper slopes are more sparsely covered, with grey stone showing through. Gentle cloud cover keeps the summer colours subdued and the distant ridge softly defined.
