In this 1913 work, the traditional biblical narrative of the Flight to Egypt is transformed through his distinctive lens. The figures appear constructed from fragmented, crystalline planes, reflecting the artist's preoccupation with the internal structure of objects rather than their mere surface appearance. The composition features a central group: the Virgin Mary carrying the Christ Child, accompanied by Joseph and a guide. A donkey stands beside them, its form rendered with the same geometric rigour as the surrounding landscape.
