The Feast of Herod is a fresco cycle component located within the Peruzzi Chapel of the Basilica of Santa Croce in Florence. Attributed to Giotto di Bondone, this work displays the transition from the rigid conventions of Byzantine art toward a more humanistic approach to narrative composition. The scene depicts the biblical account of the banquet where Salome presents the head of John the Baptist to Herod.

Giotto organises the space through architectural framing, using a loggia to define the interior setting. The figures are arranged in a manner that suggests depth, moving away from the flat, iconic representations common in the preceding century. The artist employs a muted palette, characteristic of the fresco technique, with earthy reds, ochres, and the remnants of a deep blue sky. The figures exhibit a sense of physical weight and emotional gravity, particularly in the gestures of the guests and the kneeling figure of Salome.

The composition is divided into distinct zones: the dining area where Herod sits, the musicians to the left, and the presentation of the platter to the right.
