The hand is raised in a gesture of alarm, while the facial expression conveys a sense of disorientation. A secondary, partially obscured figure appears to the right, adding to the atmosphere of unease. Dubuffet utilised a muted palette of earth tones, including ochre, grey, and muted green, to ground the scene in a visceral, tactile reality. The application of paint is thick, creating a textured surface that aligns with his interest in the materiality of the medium.
