Description
Falls of Tummel in Perthshire descend pale rock steps between green wooded slopes, with foaming blue pools and rust coloured leaves beneath tall clouds on a bright early autumn afternoon.
These cascades lie on the River Tummel near its meeting with the Garry, within the wooded Linn of Tummel landscape. Both rivers feed Loch Faskally below the confluence. The surrounding property includes a fish ladder made in 1910, part of the area’s long connection with migrating salmon.
Falls of Tummel spill in broad white curtains between low pale grey rock shelves. Blue pools collect below each step, reflecting the sky between jagged boulders. Rust coloured leaves interrupt the green woodland on the left, while dark conifer tips rise above the right slope. Tall clouds and early turning foliage suggest a bright afternoon at the beginning of autumn.
