Description
Fairy Pools on Highland Skye carries clear blue water through pale rock basins, with a small white cascade beneath the sharp Cuillin skyline and green banks in bright summer light.
The Fairy Pools lie on the northern slopes of the Black Cuillin, along the Allt Coire a’ Mhadaidh. This burn descends from Coire na Creiche towards Glen Brittle. A sequence of natural pools and waterfalls follows its rocky channel before the water joins the River Brittle.
Blue green water rests between pink grey slabs, then spills in a short white fall behind a flat stone lip. Rounded boulders fill the near edge, with smaller stones visible through the shallow pools. Fresh grass covers the banks and a large isolated rock sits on the right slope. Beyond, a pointed mountain wall rises into soft white clouds, its snow free ridges suggesting summer.
