Description
Etive opens across clear loch water towards a steep Highland mountain, with a rocky, heather-lined shore giving the view a fresh and spacious feel.
Pines cling to a low headland in the foreground, their dark trunks set against turquoise water. Across the loch, a broad mountain rises in blue-grey folds, with lighter scree-like streaks running down towards the shore. Small rocks break the waterline and purple heather gathers among the grasses, while high cream clouds leave much of the sky clear.
Anyone returning to Etive may know the sudden breadth of water and mountain after the narrower roads through the glen. The scene gives visitors a lasting reference for that change of scale, and offers local people a familiar meeting of shoreline, open loch and high ground.
