Description
Easdale Quarry pairs a dark slate building with still blue-green water, where stepped rock faces and warm evening cloud give the old workings a striking coastal calm.
Huge blocky cliff faces rise behind the roofline, their near-black slate divided by sunlit ochre shelves. A small gable and chimney break the long stone wall, while squared platforms and loose slabs step down to the water's edge. Across the basin, distant hills appear in muted blue beneath tall, glowing cloud forms.
For visitors, Easdale Quarry offers a view shaped as much by working stone as by sea and sky. Those who return to the island may recognise the stillness of the flooded basin, the sharp geometry of the slate and the way late light catches the quarry ledges before the shoreline falls into shadow.
