Mikuláš Galanda, though tragically short-lived, stands as a pivotal figure in the development of Slovak Modernism. Born in 1895, Galanda sought to synthesise international avant-garde trends with specifically Slovakian folk traditions, an approach that set him apart from many of his contemporaries.
