Description
Dunnet Bay’s sweeping turquoise water and pale sand bring a fresh, open feel to this Highland coast, with dunes softening the foreground, with the surrounding view held in soft natural light.
The shore curves away beneath a broad blue sky, where white clouds gather above the distant headland. Pale sand separates the sea from grassy dunes, and a timber fence crosses the lower foreground. Low plants edge the path behind it. The waves form parallel bands of blue and white as they reach the beach. The headland remains small on the horizon, leaving the bay’s broad curve as the main feature.
The open shore gives Dunnet Bay its appeal to walkers who come for a long view across the water. Here, the fence and dune grass place the viewpoint just above the beach, while the curving tide line leads towards the far headland. The clear spacing between sea, sand and sky recalls the scale of this northern coast.
