Description
Devil's Kneading Trough drops into a steep grassy fold as the sun sets, with a wire fence tracing the slope and Kent farmland glowing beyond.
Two smooth hillsides tilt together into a narrow green floor dotted with rounded shrubs and a few single trees. A line of dark posts runs diagonally across the lower right, and a rust-red bush frames the left edge. Beyond the dip, woods and ploughed fields fade into violet haze, a slim church spire pricks the horizon, and a low sun sits under bands of purple cloud.
This is the dry chalk valley above Wye that gives Devil's Kneading Trough its name. The warm light and layered farmland suit anyone who loves the Downs at the end of a long day.
