Description
Devil's Arse captures the drama of Peak Cavern, where a waterfall spills from the limestone opening beneath a canopy of deep green trees beside the gorge.
Pines stand against a luminous sky above the gorge, their dark trunks echoing the vertical seams in the surrounding rock. Below them, the stream twists between mossy stones and a bright run of falling water, while stepped ledges give the cliff its monumental, close-pressed texture after rain.
In the Peak District, Devil's Arse is a memorable stopping point for walkers passing through Castleton and Cave Dale. This scene recalls the sudden coolness of the gorge and the sound of water at the cave mouth, with the limestone walls enclosing the route.
