Lucebert, born Lubertus Jacobus Swaanswijk, was a central figure in the Dutch post-war avant-garde. As a poet and painter, he was closely associated with the CoBrA movement, which prioritised spontaneous expression and a rejection of traditional aesthetic constraints.
