Description
Cot Valley in Cornwall meets the sea around large smooth boulders, with pale wet sand, turquoise pools and white breakers below green coastal cliffs on a clear summer day.
Cot Valley descends to Porth Nanven near St Just in west Cornwall. The cove is noted for its rounded, egg-shaped stones, which are protected by law. This distinctive shore combines exposed boulders with sand and tidal pools at the foot of the valley.
A huge triangular boulder rises from a shallow turquoise pool, its split face carrying a line of small white barnacles. A rounder stone rests to the left, green with algae around its base. Pale sand surrounds the pools, leading towards parallel white breakers. Grass-topped cliffs extend along the left under a bright blue sky and high summer clouds.
