Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, a prominent figure associated with the Bauhaus, produced Composition K IV in 1924. This work reflects his interest in the relationship between light, space, and geometric form. Moholy-Nagy moved away from traditional representation, choosing instead to explore the fundamental elements of visual language: the line, the plane, and the circle.

The composition is characterised by a stark, dark background that provides a neutral field for the floating geometric elements. A vertical white bar dominates the upper portion, suggesting a sense of upward movement or structural stability. Below this, the artist introduces a series of curved and angular shapes, including a semi-circle and a segment containing a red form.
