Description
Collintraive places a tall stone church beside blue water, its sharp spire rising above the wooded shore and setting a poised, luminous note against the hills.
Slate roofs angle towards a rocky inlet where pale masonry meets the waterline. A narrow church tower climbs above the roof with a dark pointed spire, while thick green trees press in from the right. Across the channel, soft blue slopes recede beneath high cloud banks in lilac, grey and cream.
Collintraive is often approached through its short sea crossing and close-set shorelines, and the scene keeps that arrival in view. The church gives the settlement a vertical centre, balanced by the inlet and the layered hills that accompany journeys along this part of Argyll.
