Description
Cauldron Snout centres on a white waterfall dropping through warm stone walls, a dramatic fall whose shaded pool and sunlit valley give the scene its pull.
Square blocks line the high cuttings on either side of the gorge, with deep recesses beneath a mature tree. Dark water runs around scattered boulders at the base, and patchwork fields sweep away behind the ravine under crisp layers of cloud. Sunlight catches the rough stone edges.
Walkers approaching Cauldron Snout may recognise the sudden shift from open moorland to close, echoing rock. The image keeps that change in sight, from the distant fields to the streambed, and gives County Durham residents a firm reminder of the falls' enclosed setting.
