Description
Castle Gloom sets a high-walled stronghold above a rugged shore, with warm stone, purple heather and distant water creating a dramatic yet luminous coastal prospect.
Towers, battlements and narrow windows gather around a tall central keep, with a small flag lifting from its roofline. A muted red roof punctuates the lower buildings. Below, crags show in dark plum and grey planes, and a sheltered inlet leads towards hazy hills beneath long bands of cloud.
At Castle Gloom, the upward climb from sea-edge rock to the fortified silhouette gives the scene its pull. It suits those drawn to places where a headland becomes a lookout, with heather at the foot of the slope and the coastline extending away behind the stone walls.
