Description
Càrn Eige in Highland Glen Affric reveals a high ridge above dark blue corrie water, with russet slopes and distant mountain folds spread beneath banks of cream summer cloud.
Càrn Eige reaches 1,183 metres north of Glen Affric, making it the highest mountain in Scotland north of the Great Glen. The summit belongs to a remote group often approached by long glen routes. Ridges connect it with neighbouring Munros, creating extensive high ground above the surrounding lochs.
A narrow crest runs from the near left slope towards a sharp central top, with pale stone and ochre grass tracing its edge. Below on the right, a dark blue lochan rests in a steep hollow. More strips of water appear between distant rounded hills. Russet heather, clear sunlit slopes and broad white clouds give the high panorama a late summer character.
