The central panel features a reproduction of a frieze by the painter Hobbe Smith, depicting a maritime view of Amsterdam. The surrounding frame, designed by the Dutch artist André Vlaanderen, employs the stylistic vocabulary of Art Nouveau, characterised by its balanced, geometric borders and allegorical figures.

The composition is divided into distinct sections. At the top, a winged figure sits beneath an arch, flanked by decorative motifs that incorporate the initials of the railway company.
