Description
Burnham Beach pairs a red-banded lighthouse with wide sand and turquoise shallows, giving this stretch of coast a bright, open sense of distance beneath stacked summer clouds.
At the waterline, thin white breakers curl over pale blue bands and leave wet reflections across the tidal sand. Tufts of long grass occupy the near dunes, while a low white keeper's house sits behind the beach. Large cream cloud banks rise from the horizon, opening a cool blue field above the shore.
Those familiar with Burnham Beach may read the broad tide line and lighthouse before setting out along the coast. A visitor can return to the colour of the shallows, while nearby residents may recognise the dune grass and the long reach of sand.
