Description
Bourne’s willow-lined river and waterside houses create a peaceful English town scene in the soft light of late afternoon, with the surrounding view held in soft natural light.
The river runs between grassy banks, reflecting a tall willow on one side and houses on the other. A narrow footbridge crosses the water in the middle distance. Trees and shrubs partly screen the buildings, while the pale sky is reflected in the open channel. The view follows the water into a bend beyond the bridge. Warm light touches the roofs and leaves, giving the scene a still, familiar quality.
The river gives Bourne a quieter aspect than its streets, with the footbridge linking the banks at the centre of this view. Willow branches trail towards the water and create a strong reflection, while nearby houses show how close the town sits to the channel. The bend suggests further paths beyond the frame.
