Description
Black Fell (Pennines) centres on a lone trig point, its simple shape set against open moorland and distant rounded ridges, while the open sky keeps the view light and spacious.
The summit ground falls away in soft bands of brown, green and purple vegetation. Small rocks punctuate the slope, while the pillar stands on the crest with space around it. High cloud stretches across a pale sky above the far hills.
Walkers reaching the top will recognise the wide, undivided views across the Pennines. The trig point marks the high ground, while the layered ridges beyond place Black Fell (Pennines) within a larger stretch of open moor. The trig pillar stands alone on the crest, with open moor and further ridges visible behind it.
