Description
Follow a high path above Ben Lomond's waterside country, where a generous sense of distance offers walkers a lasting connection with the ochre slopes and blue lochs of Scotland.
Loose grey stones roughen a winding track across the lower slope. A dark triangular plantation descends on the left towards a small wooded island. Beyond the water, broad hills carry russet patches and long blue shadows beneath bands of white cloud.
Ben Lomond is associated with the great transition from wooded shores to exposed walking ground. Here the view catches the approach rather than the summit, making it an appealing choice for anyone who treasures those gradual changes during a climb, with the loch returning into sight between stretches of rougher terrain.
