Description
Beinn Uidhe (Assynt) in the Highlands evokes a quiet mountain basin, where angular pale boulders and short grass slope towards blue water beneath snow flecked ridges and soft lilac clouds.
North of Inchnadamph, Beinn Uidhe occupies rocky high ground in northwest Scotland. The hill is known for extensive quartzite boulder fields, which give the high ground a pale stony character. It stands within the wider country of rocky mountains and lochs east of Loch Assynt.
This view of Beinn Uidhe (Assynt) opens across a broad blue loch from a bank scattered with large grey blocks. Beyond the water, green slopes rise into flat topped crags and rounded higher ridges carrying a few streaks of snow. A long pale reflection crosses the right side of the loch. Cream and lilac clouds lend the spring scene a cool, open light.
