Description
Barton-upon-Humber in North Lincolnshire looks across reed-fringed pools, with a timber boardwalk over calm blue water and distant village roofs beneath the pale lilac clouds of late summer.
Beside the Humber waterfront, Waters' Edge Country Park occupies land once quarried for brick and tile clay. Flooded workings now support wetland wildlife, with reedbeds, woodland and wildflower meadows bringing a different character to this former industrial landscape near the estuary bridge.
At Barton-upon-Humber, broad blue pools reflect white clouds with lilac shadows. Gold reeds edge small islands and the nearest grassy bank. A long timber walkway crosses the middle-distance water on the right, below distant houses and trees. A small spire marks the far skyline, and the warm foliage suggests a calm day around the end of summer.
