Description
Ayrshire Coastal Path follows a stone-walled cliff track towards a white lighthouse, with dark shore rocks and blue water opening beneath high summer clouds.
A black lantern room caps the tall tower, above a yellow band and low white cottages. A pale ribbon of path bends through grass on the headland, then meets rough masonry at the edge. Beyond it, broken black reefs interrupt the sea and a broad blue-grey island shape rests on the horizon.
On Ayrshire Coastal Path, the close mix of exposed rock and orderly beacon buildings gives walkers an immediate sense of the coast's working edge. Visitors can follow the drawn route from the landward slope towards the headland, while local walkers may recognise the changing view where the shore opens out to sea.
