Jan van Huchtenburgh
Jan van Huchtenburgh spent much of his career documenting the military campaigns of the Dutch Republic. He travelled to Paris to work under Adam Frans van der Meulen, which was an unusual step for Dutch painters of his time. This experience helped him learn to depict large-scale military events with topographical accuracy. He later secured a position with Prince Eugene of Savoy. In this role, he recorded the victories of the War of the Spanish Succession through a series of large paintings and engravings.
