This print by Itō Shinsui depicts the Yakase Bridge area, a location historically associated with the Eight Views of Lake Biwa. As a practitioner of the Shin-hanga movement, Shinsui revitalised traditional woodblock techniques by incorporating modern sensibilities regarding light and atmospheric perspective. The composition balances the solid, vertical presence of a stone lantern and pine trees against the expansive, horizontal movement of the water and sailing vessels.

The artist employs a restrained palette, focusing on tonal variations to suggest the quietude of the scene. The water is rendered with fine, rhythmic lines that convey a sense of gentle motion, while the sky remains clear and open. The stone lantern, a common feature in Japanese garden and coastal design, provides a stable anchor for the viewer's eye.
