Upper Teesdale opens around a limestone waterfall, where a pale footpath crosses green fellside beneath a broad escarpment and drifting clouds in the Durham hills.

Sheer grey rock faces descend to a dark pool, while a stepped cascade falls between fissured limestone shelves. A low drystone wall curves across the upper ground, and olive scrub gathers around scattered boulders. Sunlit grass runs in broad bands towards the distant ridge, beneath soft cream clouds and a washed blue sky.
