These items are rendered with precise line work, characteristic of the Flemish engraving tradition. The figures of two men, positioned on the left and right, frame the scene, providing a sense of human scale to the technological subjects. Theodoor Galle, a member of a prominent family of engravers and publishers in Antwerp, executed this work after designs by Jan van der Straet, also known as Stradanus.
