Description
Gulvain rises above Gleann Fionnlighe in broad green folds, with a rounded rocky summit, open meadow and a dark line of trees marking the gentler ground below the Highland slopes.
The view looks towards Gulvain from Gleann Fionnlighe, keeping the mountain close to the open floor of the glen. Its high rounded mass contrasts with the low meadows and scattered trees. There is enough room in the foreground to follow that change in scale, from individual grasses to the broad summit beyond the valley.
A small burn threads the lower grassland, partly hidden by clumps of rushes. Across the glen, a few broad trees gather along a horizontal break in the ground. Above them, light and shadow divide the hill into long diagonal bands beneath thin white clouds.
