The composition centres on the two figures, who are seated upon a rocky outcrop. Eros, the god of erotic love, is shown with a flaming torch, while Anteros, often associated with requited love or the punishment of those who scorn love, mirrors his posture. The inclusion of the torch serves as a classical attribute, suggesting the heat and transformative power of affection.
