Description
A vibrant lithograph by Danish modernist Vilhelm Lundstrøm, featuring a dynamic composition of geometric forms and contrasting colours. This print offers a sophisticated and visually engaging addition to any interior.
This striking lithograph by Danish modernist Vilhelm Lundstrøm showcases the artist's exploration of form and colour in the early 20th century. Executed in 1918, the work features a composition dominated by a large pink ellipse, overlaid with a series of angular, white squares. The background is divided into fields of blue and brown, creating a dynamic interplay of positive and negative space. Lundstrøm's use of colour is particularly notable, with the soft pink and blue hues contrasting against the earthy brown tones. The lithographic technique lends a textured quality to the print, enhancing its visual appeal. Lundstrøm was a key figure in the development of modern art in Denmark, and his work often reflects the influence of Cubism and other avant-garde movements. This print exemplifies his interest in abstracting everyday objects and landscapes into simplified geometric forms. As a fine art print for the home, this piece offers a sophisticated and visually engaging addition to any interior. Its bold composition and harmonious colour palette make it a versatile choice for a variety of decor styles, from minimalist to contemporary.

Artist Biography
Vilhelm Lundstrøm
Lundstrøm's Cubist period, though relatively brief, produced some of his most iconic works. His still lifes, featuring everyday objects like fruit bowls and bottles, are imbued with a sense of understated elegance. Stripping away extraneous detail, he reduced forms to their essential geometric components, creating a harmonious balance between abstraction and representation. Though he later moved away from Cubism, its influence remained evident in his simplified forms and refined compositions.
Despite his relatively short life – Lundstrøm died in 1950 – his impact on Danish art is undeniable. He paved the way for future generations of abstract artists, demonstrating the power of simplification and the beauty of subtle colour harmonies. Owning a Lundstrøm print is not just about acquiring a piece of art; it's about embracing a legacy of quiet innovation and timeless Scandinavian design.
