Willem van Konijnenburg
Willem van Konijnenburg started his career in the Hague School but eventually turned his back on its atmospheric style. He became fascinated by the mathematical foundations of beauty and the laws of harmony. He studied the proportions of the human body with the same precision that earlier Dutch draftsmen applied to church architecture. This interest led him to develop a style known as Idealism, where every line is calculated.

Biography
His artistic approach involved a radical simplification of form. He stripped away unnecessary details to find the underlying structure of his subjects. In his work The Archers, he used rigid vertical lines and flat planes to create a sense of permanent order. His use of colour was equally controlled, often restricted to muted earth tones and cool greys. This gave his paintings a monumental feeling that differed from the fluid movements of his contemporaries.
Modern collectors are drawn to the architectural quality of his work. The clean geometry and lack of visual clutter make these prints suitable for minimalist interiors. His compositions provide a sense of calm and stability through their balanced proportions. By combining classical themes with a modern sense of space, his art remains relevant for those who appreciate structured design.
