




Dong Qichang
Dong Qichang (1555–1636) was a scholar-official and artist. He studied the work of earlier masters, including Huang Gongwang, and owned the painting Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains for thirty years.

Biography
His approach to painting involved studying through copying. He produced works such as River and Mountains on a Clear Autumn Day, which he modelled after an earlier painting by Huang Gongwang. Other known works include Excerpt from Xie Huilian’s Prose Poem “On Snow”, Letter to Chen Jiru, Poem, Autumn Mountains, Poem by Wang Wei, Poem in Cursive Script, Poem Commemorating an Imperially Bestowed Feast, Passage from Tao Qian's "Returning Home", and Landscape with Trees in the Manner of Ni Zan.
