This work depicts the kabuki actor Sanjo Kantaro II portraying the legendary figure Urashima Taro. Attributed to Kaigetsudō Ando, the founder of the Kaigetsudō school, the composition reflects the characteristic style of the early eighteenth-century Edo period. The artist focuses on the monumental presence of the figure, utilising bold, sweeping brushwork to define the contours of the actor's elaborate costume.

The figure is presented in a dynamic, slightly turned posture, which allows for a detailed display of the patterned kimono. The textile designs, featuring geometric shapes and floral motifs, demonstrate the attention to fashion that defined the ukiyo-e genre.
