Li Kan was a scholar-official during the Yuan Dynasty, recognised primarily for his mastery of ink bamboo painting. This work, executed in ink on silk, demonstrates the technical precision and calligraphic control that defined his practice. The composition features tall, slender bamboo stalks rising behind weathered garden rocks, a subject that carried significant symbolic weight in Chinese literati culture.

In this piece, the artist employs varying ink tones to create a sense of depth and volume.
