This print depicts a Goryeo dynasty jar, a form of stoneware produced on the Korean peninsula during the 12th century. The vessel features a globular body that tapers toward a short, upright neck, balanced by a modest foot ring. Small, scroll-shaped lug handles are positioned symmetrically around the shoulder, providing both a functional element and a subtle decorative accent. The surface is covered in a characteristic celadon glaze, which displays a pale, greenish-grey hue. This glaze is known for its translucency and depth, often mimicking the appearance of jade.
The aesthetic of this period prioritised restraint and form over elaborate surface ornamentation. The potter focused on the balance between the volume of the body and the verticality of the neck. The glaze application appears even, with minor variations in tone that suggest the firing process within a wood-burning kiln.
