This miniature painting originates from a dispersed manuscript of the Rasikapriya, a sixteenth-century text by the poet Keshavdas that categorises the various moods and types of lovers. Attributed to the artist Nuruddin, the work reflects the stylistic conventions of the Bikaner school of Rajasthan during the late seventeenth century. The composition depicts a courtly setting where Krishna, identified by his blue skin and crown, stands before a seated noblewoman.

The scene is divided into distinct zones. To the left, the architectural elements provide a structured backdrop, while the right side opens into a more fluid, naturalistic space featuring a small fountain and two female attendants. In the upper register, two figures sit upon a mound, engaged in conversation, adding a secondary narrative layer to the primary interaction below. The artist employs a refined palette, using gold leaf to accentuate the jewellery and garments of the figures. The figures are rendered with precise, delicate lines, a hallmark of the Bikaner style, which often incorporated influences from Mughal court painting while maintaining local Rajasthani sensibilities.

The use of space is characteristic of the period, favouring a flattened perspective that allows for the clear presentation of narrative details. The figures are positioned to guide the viewer across the scene, from the central interaction between the divine lovers to the peripheral activities of the attendants and the secondary figures on the hill. The inclusion of a small fountain and flowering shrubs introduces a sense of domestic tranquillity, contrasting with the formal posture of the primary subjects. This work serves as an example of the high level of technical skill present in the workshops of Bikaner, where artists produced works for both local patrons and the broader courtly culture of the era.
