This stained glass composition depicts the biblical scene of King David instructing his son, Solomon, regarding the construction of the Temple. Designed by Edward Burne-Jones and executed by the firm Morris & Co., the work reflects the aesthetic principles of the late Pre-Raphaelite movement. Burne-Jones was a frequent collaborator with William Morris, and their partnership produced numerous ecclesiastical commissions that sought to revive the medieval tradition of narrative glass.
