Jean Arp, a founding member of the Dada movement in Zurich, produced a series of works titled Constellation during the early 1930s. These pieces represent his shift toward biomorphic abstraction, a style characterised by organic, fluid shapes that avoid rigid geometric structures. In this specific relief, Arp arranges several rounded, amoeba-like forms upon a flat wooden base.
