This miniature painting, attributed to the artist Mushfiq, originates from a manuscript of the Panj Ganj, or Five Treasures, by the Persian poet Abd al-Rahman Jami. The work reflects the conventions of Mughal manuscript illumination, where narrative scenes are integrated with calligraphic text. The composition is divided into distinct registers, a common device in Persian and Indian book arts to convey multiple temporal states within a single frame.

The upper section depicts architectural interiors, where figures engage in courtly activities. Below, the narrative shifts to the story of Zulaykha and Joseph. The artist employs a flattened perspective, prioritising the clarity of the figures and their garments over three-dimensional space.
