This woodblock print, titled Wisteria at Kameido, belongs to the series One Hundred Famous Views of Edo. Published between 1856 and 1858, the series captures the changing seasons and urban life of mid-nineteenth-century Edo, modern-day Tokyo. Hiroshige employs a distinct compositional technique here, placing a large, hanging cluster of wisteria in the immediate foreground. This framing device pulls the viewer into the scene, creating a sense of depth that draws the eye toward the arched drum bridge in the middle distance.

The bridge, a recognisable feature of the Kameido Tenjin Shrine, spans the water with a steep, curved silhouette. Below, the water is rendered in varying shades of blue, with subtle ripples indicated by fine lines. The background reveals a glimpse of the shrine grounds, where red lanterns hang in a row, providing a contrast to the cool tones of the water and the soft, pale sky.
