Beschreibung
Wallasea Island in Essex looks across turquoise tidal water and pale sandbanks, with green marsh plants along the near mud and distant low buildings beneath large white summer clouds.
At the meeting of the Crouch and Roach estuaries, this Essex island contains a major coastal habitat restoration project. Excavated material from London's Elizabeth line helped create new intertidal ground, supporting saltmarsh, mudflats and lagoons used by waders and wildfowl.
The shore of Wallasea Island divides into soft green clumps of marsh vegetation and winding grey mud. A pale sandbar stretches across blue-green water farther out, beside a solitary pointed post. Low buildings and a thin chimney-like feature mark the distant horizon. Large white clouds rise above the level landscape, suggesting a bright, warm day in summer.
