The vessel features a pear-shaped body, known as a yuhuchunping, which tapers gracefully to a slender neck and a flared rim. The surface is decorated with a series of five-clawed dragons, which are rendered in cobalt blue against a stark white ground. These mythical creatures are depicted in dynamic poses, surrounded by stylised clouds that fill the negative space across the body of the vase.
The application of the cobalt pigment demonstrates the precision required in underglaze painting.
