Wu Li, a prominent figure of the early Qing dynasty, produced this work in 1676. As a member of the Orthodox School, he adhered to the stylistic principles established by earlier masters, particularly those of the Yuan dynasty. This hanging scroll demonstrates his mastery of brushwork and ink wash techniques, which define the traditional Chinese shan shui (mountain and water) genre.

The composition follows a vertical format, guiding the viewer from the foreground, where small figures traverse a bridge, through a series of rocky outcrops and wooded slopes, toward a distant expanse of water.
