Beschreibung
Tomintoul sits low in the glen, a cluster of white cottages with a small church spire below snow-dusted Cairngorm peaks and a winding burn.
Dark pines and bare trees break up the village, and a thin stream wanders through heather and rushes in the near field. Beyond the houses, purple-brown slopes roll up to a row of pale mountains. Large clouds sit above them in an otherwise open sky.
Tomintoul is among the highest villages in the Highlands and sits at the edge of the Cairngorms National Park, with Speyside whisky country close by. The scene suits walkers, whisky travellers and anyone who knows this high moor, where houses are small against big hills.
