This print originates from the kyoka (mad verse) anthology titled Gin sekai, or The Silver World, produced by the celebrated ukiyo-e master Kitagawa Utamaro. During the late eighteenth century, the publication of such illustrated poetry books became a refined pursuit among the literary circles of Edo.
