Juan Gris, a central figure in the development of Synthetic Cubism, produced The Packet of Coffee in 1914. This work demonstrates his rigorous approach to the movement, moving away from the fragmented analysis of earlier Cubist experiments towards a more structured, architectural composition. Gris incorporates collage elements, such as fragments of newspaper, which provide a tactile quality and ground the abstract forms in the reality of everyday objects.
